Living And Working In A Hotel With A Cancer Pollution
For three months now, my husband, Michael, and I have been living in a hotel in Tampa, Florida, that has a large cancer population staying in it. I would have never known this was happening if it was not for the Holy Spirit who took us to this hotel.
On May 31, 2024, we checked in to the hotel, and while I was making my way down the corridor to the elevator, I discovered on both sides of the wall. There were children's drawings with encouraging words, scriptures, and messages to family members. Like "You got this, grandma," "Go, Christine, no more chemo and then the word Hope." There are many others on the wall as well. After our conversation with a few of the front desk associates, they said that 40 to 80% of guests who are cancer patients are in the hotel at any given time. They stay at the hotel because of their cancer treatments at the well-known Moffitt Cancer Center. Some will stay in the hotel anywhere between three days and nine months. They can be transported or driven back and forth to get their chemotherapy, stem cell treatments, surgeries, and other trial therapies.
I've had the opportunity to speak with different cancer patients and hear stories about what they're going through, the trauma, the sickness, their not feeling well, and more. Some admitted they were struggling with finances; they had to leave their homes and families and, sometimes, leave their young kids. I had a woman who was very upset because her husband of 20 years divorced her after her diagnosis. There is a lot of work here.
The hotel offers a kitchen environment in the rooms where people can cook. There's a full refrigerator and an extra couch in the living room. Most people come with someone to help them.
Why Are We Here?
Well, part of the reason the Lord had us come here is because 22 years ago, at the age of 39, I was diagnosed with colon cancer. The moment that the gastroenterologist said: Diana, you have cancer, and it's a shame you are only 39 years old. The Lord spoke to me and said, "You don't have cancer."
I put my faith in God and believed what he said, so I was healed that day. I had no chemo, no radiation, or other medicine. The only thing that I had to get was surgery to remove a large tumor at the base of my colon.
My cousin was diagnosed around the same time and died from cancer. She was 41 years old when she passed away. She had to take chemo and other treatments. Both of us were born in March 1963. It still moves me to know that God spared my life, but she did not live. So, I have committed to God that I would do some of her work, too.
I asked the Lord why he saved me, and he told me that he was going to use me one day to cure cancer. Well, that day is here! Almost a year ago, I got the idea to start a textile business, and I started with a luxury bamboo sheet set that I had manufactured. So, I purchased my first 100 sheet sets.
The Lord told Michael we were to give away those sheets to people battling cancer. But before giving them away, the Lord had me pray over them because he would heal those people. Six months later, this opportunity arose.
God did not tell us beforehand. That was why we were going to move into that hotel. No, he just told us to go to the hotel. He knew we would discover it when we got there. So I got my staff to start sending over the luxury sheets, and since May 31, we have been giving them out consistently to people battling cancer free of charge.
They are a gift from God to them. We tell them they have an anointing from the most high God. He wants to use the bamboo sheets to heal people. I am very grateful, Lord. We've made friends with some people here.
Hope Hotel
I'm writing this article to ask you to pray for these people. I named this place Hope Hotel. For some people, like me, God's healing manifested right away, but for others, it takes time before the physical restoration and healing occur in their bodies.
Those people need hope and strength in their spirits while waiting for the manifestation. It would be terrible if they gave up too soon. One such thing just happened. There were two sisters; I met both of them. They are wonderful people—God-fearing people who are compassionate.
Just about a week ago, one of the sisters who was here for cancer passed away. Looking at her, you would never have known that she had cancer. She was in good spirits most of the time when I saw her, but she gave up. Just think how much fear and loss, not to mention the pain that some of them are going through. It's devastating.
The doctor told her this last treatment had never been used in this country and the horrific symptoms that would probably arise if she took the trial drug. But after the conversation with her doctor and his grim prognosis, she agreed to take the drug.
He told her if this did not work, she might as well go home and get her affairs in order. You could imagine the effect that information had on her. It is imperative and vital that we pray for people like her to receive the strength and hope to get well again.
This place is a spiritual hospital, a place where God has come to heal his people. The luxury bamboo sheets we give away are on our website at www.thebeautysheets.com. You can order a set if you or someone else is battling cancer.
If you go to the website, you will discover that we also have another line of bamboo sheets for sale. The cancer gift sheets were the first ones I designed and will never be for sale. Afterward, we found another manufacturer and created our second line of sheets.
Some people have gotten these sheets and have already given us a good report. Before we got to the hotel, Michael met a man who told him that he and his wife had brought their 40-year-old daughter home to die. She had stage four cancer, and they had no more hope. The father said: "It is what it is".
Michael told the woman's father about the sheets, but he didn't seem interested and probably didn't believe it. So when Michael came home and told me the story, I told him to return to his house with the appropriate sheets for the woman's bed. I also gave him a cloth I had cut and prayed over, explicitly requesting that God heal this woman.
Michael took both the sheets and the prayer cloth, and I told him to tell her father he had nothing to lose, attaching that prayer cloth to his daughter's pillow and using those sheets. Well, her father said he would do it.
A few months later, Michael called the man to inquire about his daughter, and he told Michael of her complete turnaround. In fact, at that very moment, she was on a plane flying and traveling. There's nothing too hard for God. To God be the glory! He is the Great Physician.
Inundated With Data
There is a lot of data out there about cancer, but I have never heard some of the stories that I've heard from people who come from all over the country to Tampa to go to Moffit.
We know that cancer can rob people of their health, vigor, and life. Some people who get cancer use chemotherapy and radiation. Once the doctors can no longer detect cancer, doctors call it remission. My father died at the age of 69 from prostate cancer in 1989.
Prostate cancer is a slow-moving cancer, and most people who catch it in a reasonable time can live a long life. That wasn't the case for my father; the VA hospital did surgery on him and then told him that they got the cancer and there was nothing else needed.
My father came home a pleased man and rejoiced over his prognosis. But just three months later, the cancer returned much more aggressively than before and had indeed spread to other areas of his body. He died soon. His newborn granddaughter was only six months old when he held her for the last time. When it comes to being healed by God, the Creator of your body and life, when he heals, you are cured.
Another hotel
While we were staying in the hotel, we had to transfer to another one for a few days; cancer patients were staying there as well.
I am praying for all the people who come through these doors daily. We can use your help if you are a praying person. If you do not pray, now would be a great time to start. These people need your help. Thank you for reading this. Please send this to your family and friends because we need their help, too. The more prayer, the more power. God bless you.
Success.
